This is a wideband tuner for an ELINT/EW receiver system, made by Scientific Communications (SciComm) model RT-05-18S, covers 500 MHz to 18 GHz in two bands, .5-8 GHz and 8-18 GHz.  Stuffed full of fairly modern RF parts. This uses the modern method of making an 8-18 swept front end and then using an up-converter to cover .5-8 GHz by block mixing it up into the swept band. Allows the use of one wideband LO and phase lock system. As far as I can tell, this unit has a dual IF system, I think the first one is at 400 MHz and the second one is 160 MHz.  Uses serial datacomm for control, probably RS-422. It is microprocessor controlled. Made in Sept.1988. I have listed it as "Parts" as I have not fired it up, but it is complete (I have the side panels somewhere...). Looks like it uses 5 MHz for the ref input to the phase lock system. This thing is really something, I like it a lot but have more stuff than I will ever get to, time to pass it along but it is pretty cool!  Anyway, you will have fun with this if you like RF/microwave stuff!  I have no docs, so do not know the command strings or pin outs. I assume if you know serial differential comm like 422, you will have no problem, and you can probably read the eproms to figure out the command strings. If I stripped it (which I am loathe to do, this stuff has become rare), I could get my money from the 3 yigs, 3 wideband mixers, etc.   Have fun! BTW, I have always had an interest in SciComm microwave stuff, if you know anyone or have any docs, we should talk!!
