EXCELLENT VICKERS INSTRUMENTS  Greenough 1X, 3X  Polarizing Stereomicroscope (Stereo Microscope)  This is a beautiful tan Vickers Instruments stereomicroscope with dual base, allowing for both transmitted and incident lighting. It comes with a polarizing attachment, that mounts and can be dismounted from the base. Dual stage clips are present on the polarizing attachment, and also on the microscope base, that can be used if the polarizing attachment is removed. This stereomicroscope includes two matched Vickers wide field HWF10x eyepieces. The field of view using the 1x objectives, as marked on the rotating turret, is approximately 23 mm. The exit lens of these eyepieces is larger than the entrance lens of the camera used. Thus, only a limited portion of the object seen through the instrument is shown. The full extent of the field of view can be estimated from the 'ring' beyond the image, as shown in both photographs taken through this instrument.   The microscope has a dual horizontally rotating turret, with objective markings of 1x and 3x.  Multiplying the eyepiece magnifications by the objective designations yields: 10x and 30x. It has built in illumination for both incident and transmitted light. It has a British plug, appropriate for its manufacturer Vickers Instrument Instruments of York England. The power and lamp can be adapted for the US or other country’s mains.  It is supplied, as are all Greenough stereomicroscopes, with dual porro prisms. The Greenough microscope is named after its American inventor Horatio Saltonstall Greenough. With its polarizer attached, this microscope is substantial, and weighs approximately 9 pounds 14 ounces. This stereomicroscope is approximately 15-1/2 inches tall in working position. Its working distance at 10x is approximately 3 inches. Its base is approximately 6 inches wide, at its widest point. A frosted glass 'filter' is found below the polarizer.  Perhaps because of its quality construction, and optical performance, this Vickers Instruments model stereomicroscope rarely comes to market.  ______________________________  This stereomicroscope was made by British manufacurer Vickers Instruments of York England __________                            No need for concern about stock pictures not matching the item for sale.                               PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE ACTUAL ITEMS FOR SALE  These pictures are part of this listing, and we hope they can answer most questions.  However, please feel free to ask any questions you may need answered to make an informed decision.
