The Long Island Duck is primarily used for their egg and meat production. It was bred from Mallard Ducks in China. Originally the duck had small bodies and black feathers. Over changes in their environment and or evolution, eventually, these amazing ducks increased in size and grew white feathers. Then the duck became domesticated in China by most farmers. A small number was then imported to the United States of America. The ducks were sent to Long Island in 1873 by a man named James from Connecticut. Around 95% of duck meat and duck eggs consumed in the United States come from these Long Island Ducks. I really wanted to share the history of these ducks. Though most eggs and meat is used for consumption these ducks are amazing pets too. They are calm natured and usually to big to fly. They get along well with children and other animals. They lay good sized white eggs and taste amazing. I use them most around holiday's in backing because they are rich and thicker in taste. I will pack your eggs with love and care and ALWAYS send extras. I can not guarantee your hatch rate as shipping eggs is a risk and I can not control your incubation tecnique. Thanks for looking and enjoy these sweet ducklings!
