Foam insulation of any type is bulky and light weight making shipping a serious factor in pricing. Properly insulating below your slab is critical to the monthly cost of operating your finished hot water heating system. At Curry Heating Systems we understand that buyer's want to know and understand their final installed system costs. The cost of a correctly installed in-slab PEX installation includes at least a 6mil vapor barrier with overlapped seams, insulation thickness that meets your climate's requirement and is taped at all seams, the PEX and installation labor costs. Most all of our residential clients install their own under slab vapor barrier, insulation and PEX. It is a smart and great place to save some significant costs. Installation of PEX is not "brain surgery" but it can be back breaking. The physical demands often require recruiting family and friends to assist with the installation. Having numerous folks helping with the installation causes scheduling issues and heaven forbid scheduling 5-6 helpers for a morning installation start and waking up to rain. CRETE-HEAT insulated floor panels solve almost all the issues related to an under slab and PEX installation. The individual panels serve as both a vapor barrier and perfect insulation method. The dimpled pattern on the top serves to hold the PEX in place during installation and until the concrete pour. Installation of the PEX is a simple as pressing the PEX in place with your foot as you stand straight up while stringing the PEX. CRETE-HEAT is advertised as reducing complete system installation labor by as much as 2/3rds.
