This 4 pc set is now being offered with our PREMIUM X-BARS. Note regarding fit: Measure your inside, front to back, bed gap. These 4 bars are intended for stand alone use on 20 ton (or less) presses with, front to back, gap of about 4.25 inches. Can be used as a "topper" over your existing plates up to 150 tons. Beware: Painted scrap steel of unknown quality can't do the job. Rounded corners, as found on ordinary bar stock, may cause the bars and plates to "kick out" under load. Frustrating and dangerous! To our knowledge, we offer the only ground edges in the market. This is the popular 4 piece press accessory SYSTEM that thankfully replaces your dangerous, inflexible, heavy, "unslideable", cheaply made, cast plates that came with your press. This versatile, and BEST SELLING, Premium Level Set consisting of two (2) matched steel press bars measuring 4" X 8" X 3/4" and two (2) matched steel notched press plate X-BARS measuring 5" X 7-1/8" X 3/4". These X-BARS will accommodate all shaft sizes of 1/2" to 6" that you might encounter. This 4 piece set will replace your unsafe cast press plates and are designed to be used as a press accessory SYSTEM. Each edge is GROUND to be perpendicular to its face and the functional corners are just slightly rounded and polished using our proprietary 3 step process. With this set you won’t have to use junk steel bars or plates over you cast plates in hopes they contain the flying fragments, should the cast plates “let go”. Search the web for gruesome facial injuries resulting from cast press plate "explosions". Rest assured these bars have a yield strength of over 52,000 psi while ordinary painted steel bars have a yield strength of only 20,000 psi. These 4 rigid plates will never, ever brittle fracture. Now, safety is one thing but, convenience and adaptability is also important. Just being able to complete a press job is why you have the press…right?. It seems like every setup is different. How to use these steel press plates and bars: With this matched 4-piece SYSTEM you have everything you need in one flexible setup. By using these four 3/4 ” thick plates, there are no monster plates to slide around (or remove when changing bed height manually). Plates and bars can be easily slid, stacked… rearranged to suit the job. These are stand-alone plates on 20 ton presses over a 4.25" span. To our knowledge, these easily span all 12 and 20 ton beds. 30 ton press beds usually have about 7.5" front to back gaps, so just use these over your existing bars or plates for handy, safer setups. Details The 4 graduated notches in our press plate are designed to perfectly fit and support shaft diameters of 1/2 ”, 1”, 1-1/2" and 2” but accommodate all diameters from very small up to 6". Choose the correct notch size by using the largest notch that will fit around the workpiece without the plate edges touching each other. The whole idea is to get as much “grip” as possible on, often narrow hubs, flanges, shaft shoulders, and perhaps most critically, delicate ball bearing inner races. Certain press operations will require a bearing separator to “reach in” to grab an inner race, hub, shoulder, flange or other workpiece feature. Even in this case, our notches will more closely support the bearing splitters’ working edges. Cheaper bearing separators require more support than the very high priced superior one. Common press plates have large notches and huge semicircular cutouts that don’t even do a good job of backing up a bearing separator. We are presently writing an article about the inadequacy of the common press plate "cutouts". It’s a long explanation, but press tooling is changing and this is a brand new achievement in press accessory SYSTEMS. The last picture shows 4 plates spread across a press bed to fully support a press brake metal bending accessory. Your second box will come shortly and you can check tracking to find out where it is. FAQ: Why aren't your bars longer? Answer: 20 ton presses have a front to back gap of about 4.25". These bars are plenty long to bridge this gap and hopefully too short to be miss-used as stand alone bars on larger presses. Of course all of our bars can be used to advantage as "toppers" over existing bars, up to 150 tons. Also, our bars are made from very expensive steel.
