Offered is this beautiful antique cabinet housing 226 antique glass specimen slides for microscope viewing. There are 10 thin drawers with 24 spaces in each for the glass slides. On the bottom there is an 11th drawer with houses besides other things a wooden box which holds a collection of slides...some marked 1921 and 1922 and HARTFORT (CT) HOSPITAL. Many slides from WESLEYAN (Middletown, CT) University; Pathological Library Med. Dep't Yale College, Histoligical Library Med. Dep't Yale College. One is dated Jan. 1889. A smaller number are marked BAUSCH & LOMB OPTICAL Co. The wooden cabinet with the slides weighs 12-1/2 LBS. It measures 16" X 9" X 8". There is no lock or key although it looks like there would be from the key hole on the door. This has to be sent FED-EX for the best delivery price. Here's the problem. Fed-Ex will not honor its insurance coverage unless they pack it. I got an estimate today from them for $40 to 50 dollars mainly because they say it costs extra for "CAREFUL PACKING". I hate to charge so much, but again you can pack like a pro yourself and the slides are so delicate, FED-EX will always find fault and won't pay for breakage... unless you pay them to pack it. I'm going to charge $30 handling for part of the Fed-Ex packing, and I'll pay the remainder. Of course, you can always pick up this collection in person for no delivery charge or handling charge, naturally. Please see photos. I have not looked at every slide, but if you have questions I'll try to answer.
