These are unused optical cross- dichroic cube prisms. The photos showing "prismed" light on surrounding surfaces, were produced with natural sunlight. They can also create colors, utilizing beams of items surrounding them in the absense of sunlight. 27 x 27 x 25 mm (W x D x H) Price is for one prism Although they will combine color and possibly conduct some laser light splitting, these have chipping obtained during production and are not to be relied upon for beam splitting operations. The brilliant natural light effects they produce are interesting to watch and experiment with. No special editing or camera effects were used to get the effects shown in the photos. Light passes through, combining to create primary and secondary colors as the result of reflection and refraction of triangular prism surfaces. Known as a “RGB (red, blue green) combiner x-cube prisms, and can also be considered a lightbeam splitter. Dichroic Prisms combine R (red), G (green) and B (blue) beams from three directions into one direction. The splitter would be a reverse effect of the "combination" effect. Use as an observational tool for children or anyone interested in learning the physics of light. "A dichroic prism is a prism that splits light into two beams of differing wavelength (color). A trichroic prism assembly combines two dichroic prisms to split an image into 3 colors, typically as red, green and blue of the RGB color model. They are usually constructed of one or more glass prisms with dichroic optical coatings that selectively reflect or transmit light depending on the light's wavelength."
