Up for sale is a "vintage" 3M STL-100 (label maker). This item is "used". Yes, "used" and carefully "stored" and in good condition and working. The label tape can be purchased at the office stores. The most popular brand is Dymo. 3/8 inch width will work. 1/4 inch width will also work. I always like the 3/8 inch version. I could never locate the 3M version of the label tape so I had to switch suppliers to Dymo. Yes, the Dymo plastic dispenser does "fit" inside the 3M and works just fine. I stored this precious tool inside a plastic box and always carried this tool in the back seat of my truck. I used to be an electrician and one of the most important functions of an electrician is the "labeling" and marking and 'instructions" at the point of the work that you just completed. To inform the next person about the installation or to remember what I did the last time (several years ago). No one ever seemed to take the time to "mark" correctly and as a result I was always trying to "figure-out" what the last guy did. I decided to "do better". I found this 3M labeling device and I installed some red label tape. That was perfect. Red label tape with white lettering for the outside of a panel or electrical box. Over the years I searched for other devices like battery operated label devices. They all failed or did not work or did not want to work or "jammed". So, I gave-up. The 3M STL-100 became the "best" of the "best", in my opinion. Yes, this one always "works" and does not run out of batteries. I am no longer in the electrical business and therefore I am offering this 3M label device for sale. I can imagine other uses for this "label" device. 1. To label plastic boxes for identification. 2. To label instructions nearby an appliance for correct operation. (and) for anyone that does not want to just use a black marker to write on something. Black markers are quick, fast and slick; however, are not "professional" in appearance. Thanks.
