These diodes have been pulled from a machine, but each has been tested and found to perform at or greater than shown in the power graphs. After many tests, these diodes have proven themselves to be reliable at high current high power operation. There is very little output loss with time as the diode/module is continuously. This diode is a non-standard size of 3.8mm. IT WILL NOT FIT INTO A STANDARD AIXIZ MODULE, a 3.8mm special Aixiz module must be used. A heatsink is an absolute necessity with this diode since it can handle so much power. If I do not already have heatsinks and 3.8mm Aixiz modules in my shop, I guarantee they will be there soon. This diode is far cheaper than other 405nm diodes of comparable strength, and offers a new "middle ground" for novice and advanced beginner laser builders. This diode can be run up to an absolute maximum current of 440 milliamps with the risk of diode life being shortened. As an example of the ability of this diode, the images above and video below show the 3.8mm laser diode powered in a module and heatsink to 360 milliamps. Once again, this diode is a non-standard 3.8mm (TO-38) size package and will ONLY press into a 3.8mm Aixiz Module. If you are in need of the 3.8mm Aixiz modules, they are available in my shop as well. Since this diode is in the ultraviolet spectrum of 405nm, the spot is much brighter than your eye can detect, so please use caution when operating. Please also note that the lens I used in the images and video was a G2 lens. The acrylic lens will still easily pass 400mW+, but it is not nearly as efficient as the G2.   Recommended parameters (and warnings) for use.....   Use ElectroStatic Discharge (ESD) protection at all times when handling these and any other laser diodes. Static electricity can cause instant destruction to sensitive semiconductor components such as this. Do not power up diode unless pressed into 3.8mm Aixiz module and appropriate heatsink with a proper driving circuit or otherwise stable power source. A laser diode powered outside of an Aixiz module WILL overheat to the point of destruction in seconds. Do not point at people, ANY vehicles, animals, satellites, buildings, or yourself. THIS LASER WILL BLIND YOU PERMANENTLY IF YOU LOOK INTO THE BEAM, SERIOUSLY! Please use laser safety goggles as well, as even glancing reflection will do damage to the eye. Maximum voltage:  5.9 volts Absolute maximum current (potential diode death): 440 milliamps Threshold current: 28 milliamps Optimum current/voltage (for decent diode lifetime): 5.82 volts @ 380 milliamps   The sale is for one 3.8mm 500mW+ 405nm laser diode. Please note that a 3.8mm Aixiz module is required for proper collimation, and does provide some heatsinking ability. An additional heatsink is REQUIRED is you plan to run the diode for more than 6 seconds.     These diodes are ALWAYS shipped in ESD packaging, and are TESTED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE SHIPMENT at 180 milliamps to ensure lasing. Please use these lasers safely and legally because the BUYER ASSUMES ALL RESPONSIBILITY UPON PURCHASE. Thanks for buying, and remember that the advancement of hobby laser technology relies on laser remaining legal, so please use carefully. Get your own valid XHTML YouTube embed code
