A relatively recent import from Britain, Cream Legbars were developed in the 1930's in Cambridge by crossing (we think) Brown Leghorns, Barred Plymouth Rocks and Araucana (for the egg color). Cream Legbars are now a pure breed of poultry. They are autosexing which means you can tell the sex of the chick at day old. Cream Legbars are a light breed, known to be good layers of small to medium sized blue eggs. Males typically range in weight from 6 to 7 pounds while hens weigh in from 4 to 6 pounds. Our flock of Cream Legbar consists of birds from Greenfire Farms first, second and third imported lines.  We are working on improving the color of our birds by choosing breeders that have the most correct feather color.  It is a slow process but we are moving forward!   Pros: Very economical eater Excellent egg layer of medium to large, blue eggs Great forager Autosexes at hatch!   Cons: Can be flighty   Eggs are wrapped individually and shipped 'fat end up' to help keep the air cell stable during transit.  Eggs are shipped Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and will be processed in the order they were received.    Specific ship date requests should be placed in your order notes and will be honored as the hens allow.  If there is a day that you DO NOT want your eggs shipped, please include that information in the order notes as well. We request all hatching eggs be picked up at your local post office to reduce shipping trauma.  PLEASE supply a phone number if you want your eggs addressed in this manner.  All eggs are shipped USPS Priority Mail and typically arrive 2 to 3 days after shipping.  Please understand that even though we might address a box "HOLD AT POST OFFICE", it might still be delivered to your door.  This is out of our control. We ship the freshest eggs possible and package in a manner that will limit the chance of breakage or damage.  We do not guarantee hatch rates due to factors that are out of our control such as rough handling, incubator error, etc.
