Antique American Slicing Machine Co. Electric Meat Slicer w/ Blade Sharpener    Description This is an old American Slicing Machine Company commercial deli meat / cheese slicer. PLEASE NOTE that the slicer is photographed while sitting on a plastic garden cart, and the cart is NOT included in this auction. The blade is motor-driven by a robust, Emerson Electric 1/4-horsepower corded electric motor. Similar in design and appearance to Berkel, this slicer was made in Chicago, Illinois, an immense meat-packing region in the past. This is a beast of a machine, composed of a HEAVY cast iron frame with aluminum trays, some chrome-plated controls, a big, heavy motor, and several cool badges, including one that lists all of the patents taken out on the machine. The lowest patent number listed was filed in 1926, and the highest patent was filed in 1938. I would guess the machine weighs between 85 and 120 pounds, as it pretty much kills me to dead-lift it (OK, I'm a bit of a weakling!). THEREFORE, I AM LISTING THIS SLICER AS LOCAL PICK-UP ONLY. HOWEVER, if you are located within a reasonable distance of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, then I might be convinced to lift it into my car and bring it to you.  Condition This item appears to be in Good Condition. The motor runs strong and spins the blade at a high rate of speed. I believe this machine was repainted at some point in the past. and not very well done. There is surface corrosion on the housing, slide rods, some pitting on the chrome, etc. It'd be great if a meat enthusiast took this and restored it to its original condition, but it could certainly be cleaned up and made serviceable as is.
