C J Tagliabue Mfg Tag Closed Flash Point Tester w/Orig Box & Instructions This item is called 'The Tag Closed Tester' and is used to determine the flash point of oil vapors. The C.J. Tagliabue Mfg. Co. of Brooklyn, N.Y. entered into several government agreements from 1919 to 1923 on this unit and this one was adopted by A.T.S.M. (Serial D56-36). The included instruction sheet is dated 9/47 (probably Sept., 1947). The also included original wood carrying box is designed to house the unit and two thermometers. The unit measures about 9" tall by 4 1/2" wide. Weight with box is about 7 1/2 pounds. It has NOT been tested and appearance wise looks in good to very condition. Would look better if it was polished. Its missing one thermometer and one of the cap lids is bent inward. Not sure if anything else is missing. Being sold as is. Plenty of photos to view. A nice old piece of Petroleum history to add to your collection! Item Condition is based on my observation and opinion. I am not an expert but have done my best to accurately describe each listing.
