DESCRIPTION OF THE CARGO SEAL: Each security seal is a "one use" seal which locks in place when the tail is wrapped around and inserted into the head. The seal is non-removable (without leaving a clear indication of tampering). NO SPECIAL TOOL is required to attach these seals - simply loop the tail around, insert it into the head, and push it in until it snaps. To verify the seal seated, simply pull on the tail to confirm it locked in place. Each CARGO-SEAL BRAND seal displays a 5-digit serial number that has been embossed into the metal seal, (so there's no need to worry about the seal's serial number bleaching out during long term exposure to the elements). SEAL SPECIFICATIONS: Each seal measures approximately as follows: The total length of the seal is 8 3/4 " (from end to end) and the width is .33" [approximately 3/8"]. The head is approximately .49" wide at its widest and .91" long. To use this seal, loop the tail around and snap it firmly into the head (see photo mosaic). The seal's break strength is rated at 75 pounds (i.e. these seals can be removed using wire cutters, metal shears or tin snips. We DO NOT recommend you attempt to remove these seals by hand - - - since yanking on them lacerate your hand). Each seal weighs 0.183 ounces (5.19 grams). 100 seals weigh 1 pound, 2.3 ounces. COLORS: These seals are available in the industry-standard galvanized / tin silver color. UNUSUAL FEATURES / NOTES: Each CARGO-SEAL BRAND metal seal is different - as it has its own five-digit serial number embossed into it. . SELLER'S COMMENTS: Thousands of smaller companies, businesses, freight handlers and truck drivers need security seals - but in very small or limited quantities. Maybe they only need to ship containerized cargo or several truck loads of merchandise each year - and don't want to purchase the minimum quantity of 5,000 to 10,000 seals that many distributors require. Maybe they have cargo containers sitting on their property for seasonal sales and need to detect tampering by employees or others. For that reason, these seals are being sold in small lots of one-hundred pieces. DISCOUNTS: Effective July 2011, eBay started collecting an 11% surcharge on the amount buyers pay for postage. We have never "gouged" our buyers on postage or shipping -and- we have never charged a "handling fee." In fact, we usually "broke even" or lost a little money on shipping. Under eBay's new rules, if a seller's actual postage cost is $2.50, eBay now "dings" the seller a .28? (11%) "postage surcharge" resulting in another loss. Effective June 1, 2012, eBay terminated many seller's 20% "final value credit" because sellers were unable to meet eBay's shipping criteria of shipping within 24 hours (orders placed on Saturday afternoon couldn't possibly be shipped until at least Monday, etc.). Sellers counted on this small "refund" which added to the bottom line. As we could only guarantee 24-hour shipping 6-days a week, we lost this credit too. Inasmuch, WE DO NOT feel it's fair to pass eBay's surcharges along to our buyers - so we have simply removed the various discounts we previously offered our buyers. We sincerely apologize for this - - - however eBay left us with two choices: Increase your cost by passing along their surcharges or remove our discounts. We chose the latter.
