Weather resistant. Sold as a lot of 100 pieces/seals in this listing. These seals, due to their dual-locking barbs, afford even more security. Originally engineered in Malaysia (to secure sea-bound cargo containers going to foreign countries), these seals were so unique, that in 1985, the manufacturer obtained a patent to protect their investment. DESCRIPTION OF THE CARGO SEALS: Each security seal is a "one use" seal which double-locks (seals twice - with dual barbs) into place and is non-removable (without leaving a clear indication of tampering). NO SPECIAL TOOL is required to attach these seals - simply loop the tail around, insert it into the head, and push it until it snaps twice. This seal has two "barbs" on the tail, both of which lock in place. Each seal displays its own serial number that has been heat embossed into the seal. Each seal measures approximately as follows: The total length of the seal is 8" (from end to end) and the width is .36" [approximately 3/8"]. Each seal is .055" thick [approximately 1/16"]. The head is approximately .45" wide at its widest and .71" tall. To use this seal, simply loop the tail around and snap it firmly into the head (see photo mosaic). The seal's break strength is rated at 33 pounds (i.e. these seals can be forcefully removed without using cutters). Each seal weighs .102 ounces (2.88 grams). COLORS: At the time of this initial listing, we stocked these seals in ORANGE, BLUE, YELLOW and GREEN. You may request a particular color when you order and if it's available, it will be shipped. In other words, you are ordering the seals, not their particular color. UNUSUAL FEATURES / NOTES: Each plastic seal is different - as it has its own four, six or eight-digit serial number stamped/embossed into it. Your seal will not be the exact one pictured in the photographs due to the varying serial numbers; however, it will be the exact same type. Seals come with the serial number already embossed. Custom imprinting IS NOT available on these seals. SELLER'S COMMENTS: Thousands of smaller companies and businesses need security seals - but in very small or limited quantities. Maybe they only need to ship containerized cargo or several truck loads of merchandise each year - and don't want to purchase the minimum quantity of 5,000 to 10,000 seals that many distributors require. Maybe they have cargo containers sitting on their property for seasonal sales and need to detect tampering by employees or others. For that reason, these seals are being sold in a small lot of 100 seals. HIGHER-SECURITY, TAMPER EVIDENT SEAL APPLICATIONS: These weather-resistant, plastic, higher-security seals are used the world over in hundreds of applications. INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS: This seal's primary application is in the freight and shipping industry - - - to indicate tampering of containerized cargo doors between destinations, (i.e. semi-truck trailers, sea-bound cargo containers, rail cars, etc.).Industrial applications for these types of seals include tamper indication of factory machinery, electrical panels, employee lockers, "off limits" areas, chemical tanks and storage areas, hazardous areas, hasp and lock tampering/access, roof top hatch access, secured areas in the maintenance area - such as key vaults, high value areas, elevator equipment / room tampering, cargo containers, semi-truck trailers, train cars, freight shipments, construction trailers, storage cages, welding supplies, and hundreds of other applications. RESIDENTIAL AND WORKPLACE APPLICATIONS: Seal tool boxes, liquor storage, storage boxes, gun cabinets, "U-store" overhead doors (used to keep children and storage personal out - frequently used during divorce proceedings by both parties to assure neither spouse accesses their storage unit without the other being present), garage doors, vehicles, tornado access doors, outside storage sheds, lockers (at home or work), lock boxes, power tools, lawn tools, mailboxes, electric panels, locker at the gym, and hundreds and hundreds of other uses. Permit children emergency access to restricted areas of the house, barn, shed, or shop - knowing any "unauthorized" access will be immediately noticed. SHIPPING and HANDLING COST: There is no excessive "padding" with this item's S & H. These seals ship United States Priority Mail -or- Parcel Select Mail with USPS Tracking to your United States address. They ship United States First Class International Mail -or- United States International Priority Mail to your foreign address under a United States Custom's Number. Foreign addresses will incur an additional $1.00 processing charge for completing the required United States Custom's form required to ship this item internationally. DISCOUNTS: Effective July 2011, eBay started collecting an 11% surcharge on the amount buyers pay for postage. We have never "gouged" our buyers on postage or shipping -and- we have never charged a "handling fee." In fact, we usually "broke even" or lost a little money on shipping. Under eBay's new rules, if a seller's actual postage cost is $1.25, eBay now "dings" the seller a .14? (11%) "postage surcharge" resulting in another loss. Effective June 1, 2012, eBay terminated many seller's 20% "final value credit" because sellers were unable to meet eBay's shipping criteria of shipping within 24 hours (orders placed on Saturday afternoon couldn't possibly be shipped until at least Monday, etc.). Sellers counted on this small "refund" which added to the bottom line. As we could only guarantee 24-hour shipping 6-days a week, we lost this credit too. Inasmuch, WE DO NOT feel it's fair to pass eBay's surcharges along to our buyers - so we have simply removed the various discounts we previously offered our buyers. We sincerely apologize for this - - - however eBay left us with two choices: Increase your cost by passing along their surcharges or remove our discounts. We chose the latter.
