  202035c - Stylus for Touch Probe 4mm Stainless Steel Ruby tip   Stylus TP-4R, 4mm (.1575 in) dia ruby tip x.75 in long w/2mm threaded shank. Ruby tip sphericity is within .000050 inch ( 50 millionths ) Ruby is an ideal material for a probe stylus as it is one of the hardest industrial materials available. Ruby provides a long life without wearing of the surface from abrasive materials. The 4mm tip is larger that the 1/8 diameter of the shank and available extensions.  This stylus can probe the bottom surface of a deep pocket with vertical side walls without any shank interference.                                           Shown above a 1mm tip mounted to an optional extension for additional probe reach into cavities.        Below is another DeskCNC scanned item.  In this case a 1 mm diameter, ruby probe tip was used to pick up as much detail as possible.The specifics of the scan are: .004 x .004 steps, approx 95,000 points scanned. The total time was about 3.5 hours.  The velocity was kicked up to about 35 ipm on the flat areas.
