Normally used in ships for separating the oil from the water in the bilge and ballast water from fuel oil tanks. It can also be used in any industrial application where you have to remove oil from water to produce an effluent containing not more than 15 parts per million (ppm) of oil content. There is a meter on top that reads in ppm, if the effluent goes above 15 ppm it sounds an alarm.
