The dimension of the fused quartz bar is 200 mm x 25 mm x 7.2 mm and weighs 7.8 gram as shown in pictures. The bar is in perfect shape, no dings, chips, cracks and polished clear on all six faces. The piece comes from a cancelled physics experiment for Cerenkov light detection. Cerenkov won the 1958 Nobel Prize in physics for his discovery of this particular coherent radiation. If you are into radiation detector, the timing of the Cerenkov light is "perfect" that it is a coherent source (like laser). Such technique is commonly used in experimental high energy and nuclear physics to detect penetrating cosmic rays or relativistic non-interacting charged particles. It is UV transparent. A beautiful piece to collect or for detector project.
