Geiger counter     device enabling measurement of current radiation resulting from radioactive decay of particle-based isotopes Beta and Gamma. The device is able to monitor the current level of radiation (background radiation) and determine the dose taken on an ongoing basis during the measurement, i.e. the dosimeter function. The measurement results are displayed in Sv (Sivert) units, in practice miliSivert's - mSv (0.001 Sv), at low radiation levels these are microSiverts - uSv (0.000001 Sv) A typical safe indication (depending on the region) is radiation on 0.08 uSv/h do 0.2 uSv/h Geiger counter construction The main detection element is the STS-5 detection lamp, which provides a good one sensitivity and reliability. The device will easily capture the slightest changes background radiation, showing the results in the graph. The user will be informed about possible radioactive hazard in an area or area to be left to avoid the potential effects of health complications such as cancer or extreme cases of radiation sickness. Radiation  - geiger counter In recent years, the media has reported a whole series of different events that resulted in a leak or the release of radioactive materials into the environment, the largest known is failure (explosion) of the Chernobyl power plant in Ukraine and a failure at the nuclear power plant Fukishima in Japan. Soil and water contamination can result in contamination of food and theirs preparations (plants, fish), so the ability to monitor the state of imported food can be useful. Radiation is also used in medicine. Radiation becomes dangerous only when its dose becomes large enough to cause faulty work and death of living cells. Under normal conditions, we are constantly exposed to radiation from space space and the environment, but it is so small that it does not cause any side effects in living organisms Geiger counter - working with device The display also shows the time the device has been working (since turning it on) and radiation dose received at this time, it is therefore a dosimeter function. At the bottom of the screen is a graph of radiation levels over the last four hours updated every minute. The chart allows immediate visual verification of the change radiation level The device during the measurement on the display shows the position "STATUS", it adopts 3 values: green "NORMAL" normal / safe radiation orange "WARNING" warning and in red "DANGER" danger The "WARNING" radiation level threshold (warning) starts at 6uSv / h, thus if we stay in the radiation zone the whole year (i.e. 365 days), we will receive it dose 50mSv every according to the table above is the maximum allowable annual dose for employees of nuclear power plants in the USA. So if we find in the "WARNING" zone for a moment or a few hours, it does not mean that we have taken a dangerous dose - such we will accept only staying in the "WARNING" zone for a year (365 days). While the device informs us that we can leave the potentially hazardous zone / area in advance without harm to health. Radiation level “DANGER” (danger) starts at 45uSv / h, and so if we stay in the radiation zone the whole year (i.e. 365 days), then we will receive a dose of 400mSv and thus as if we were in orbit for a year or level radiation sickness (dose taken shortly). So if in the "DANGER" zone we'll find ourselves for a moment or a few hours, this does not mean that we have taken the dose dangerous - we will assume that we will only stay in the "DANGER" zone for a year (365 days). In contrast, the device informs us to a potentially dangerous zone / area they could leave early, without harm to health.
