Reviews; (( You just have to be patient when listening for it and move the monitor around every minute or so if you can't hear anything. It works best if you turn the volume up about 80-90% and just lay it on her belly - don't try to mash down to get closer b/c it just causes static and makes it fuzzy.)) ((It is a battery operated microphone, basically. It has a hollow "cone" on the bottom which you place against your stomach (think of putting a cup against a wall and trying to listen in on some secret conversation in the next room) and holes for two sets of earphones (included!) for listening. You will have to wait until you are further along to hear things, as it states in the manual, because it IS just an amplifying device.)) C-27
