Guildline 9152t/p4 Standard Cell Enclosure Primary Voltage Standard

 This is one of the few devices which National Bureau of Standards (NBS) will accept for calibration as voltage standard.  NBS refuses to accept any DMM as a standard due to excessive long term drift.  The drift of Guildline standard cell enclosure ( It is 4 or 12 cells depending on model of saturated Weston cells keep under constant temperature of 30 degrees +-.005 degrees) is measured in 1or 2 ppm per DECADE.  Only in the last 15  years has the NBS accepted voltage standards such as Fluke 7000 as a replacement for saturated Weston cells.  Many calibration labs now use the Fluke voltage standard as the primary voltage standard but always keep a saturated Weston cell such as the Guildline or a bank unsaturated Weston cells as backup voltage standard.  This particular cell was mistakenly sold at a auction as medical incubator!  The price was cheap so I bought it.  The temperature control electronics was faulty so I rebuilt it  and upgraded it to the latest revision.  The last two pages show the output of one of the cells measured by my Datron 1061A multimeter.  My meter was last calibrated 5 years ago so the reading could be off by +- 50 microvolts.  Originally the cells came with a sheet of paper showing the calibrated output stuck in a holder in the top but the sheet got lost.  This unit uses special designed cells to be shippable by standard carrier.
