Hewlett Packard 3458A 8 1/2 Digit Multimeter Up for auction is a working HP3458A Digital Multimeter. If you're looking at this, you're probably aware of what a fantastic instrument this is. This unit is the basic model, with no options installed. It doesn't come with any accessories other than a power cord. (The User Manual can be found and downloaded by doing an internet search.) Listed below is the functional testing that was done on this Multimeter: Power-up self test passes. Internal Self-Calibration routine runs without any issues. (This is about a 10 minute self check.) Basic Measurement functions have been checked. (A 180 Ohm, 5% resistor measurement is shown in photos.) Various commands have been entered via the front keyboard. The HPIB connection on the rear has not been checked by me. Error log has been checked, and was found empty. While this is not an exhaustive check, everything checked has been flawless. Note: I'm unaware of the last time this unit was in for calibration, but it is definitely not current. Now for the cosmetic flaws: As with many pieces of HP Equipment this age, the feet on the bottom are missing. There is a scratch on the front display, which shows up in several photographs. This does not have any impact on the readability of the display, in fact, in normal operation it is not very noticeable. (The scratch is actually more prominent in the photos because of the camera flash.) The top cover of the unit has a patch that is a little glossy compared to the top cover overall. This is from a label that was on the top at one point in time. The top front has a inventory unit number engraved in it from a previous owner. (I personally think this type of vandalism to fine pieces of test equipment should be fined.) Shipping will be via FedEx or UPS Ground, both of which require a street address for delivery. The shipment will be insured, so a signature will be required for delivery. This unit comes with a 14 day right of inspection. Returns are accepted if the following conditions are met: The unit is found to have an operational defect. The unit is returned in the same condition as it was received, and does not show signs of abuse. The unit was not opened. Buyer pays return shipping, and packages product well.
