Anencephaly is a developmental disorder of the neural crest resulting in the absence of a major portion of the brain, as well as distortion and abnormal growth of the skull. This disorder is almost always incompatible with life.  This is a 3D reproduction of a near full-term (~37 weeks) fetal skull of an anencephalic, printed at original size. The original specimen is over 100 years old! It is highly unusual to find full-term anencephalic specimens due to the advent of ultrasound, and this specimen was used as a teaching tool at a major medical school at the end of the century. This is a HIGHLY UNUSUAL SKULL, UNIQUE, ONE-OF-A-KIND, and is an exact replica. This was extracted from a high-resolution CT scan of a preserved instructional specimen used for teaching in the early 1900's.. the original specimen is over 100 years old! This reproduction has no additional paint, and is sold without additional finish to insure the visualization of the fine structures. Amazing detail, wonderful specimen for teaching, education, or as an unusual work of art. Size: 12cm x 11cm x 14cm Material: ABS Print Resolution: 200 microns I specialize in 3d printed reproductions of fetal specimens, both whole and skeletal, for learning, teaching, biology/anatomy/anthropological instructional purposes, and as works of art. These are made from high resolution computer tomography (CT) scans of previously unknown specimens and are part of my personal collection, and have never been seen before. You can follow me at fetalreproductions on Facebook or Etsy. Good Luck!
