This item is a replacement gear for a Hunt Boston Model 17 Electric Pencil Sharpener. Colour: blue. It was reverse engineered from the broken gear of my friends' Hunt Boston Model 17. Because this gear sits so close to the drive motor, it is subjected to constant heat during operation causing the gear to eventually break over time.  To address this issue I incorporated fan blades to the design of the gear to blow some air on the motor and cool the chamber a little bit.  It might not totally eliminate the heat issue but every little bit helps in this case.   The new and improved gear has been installed and tested on a Model 17 recently and has since sharpened numerous graphite and coloured pencils.  The gear is still working well.  I have a video of this gear in operation, please contact me if you would like see it. Installation would require light sanding, filing or scraping (with a hobby knife) as the slots are a tight fit.  It is best to do sand/file/scrape then trial fit a few times to guarantee a snug fit with the gear shaft.  When fitted snugly on the gear shaft, it does not require a a pin. The gear is 1.75" in diameter and made of ABS plastic (same durable plastic as Lego bricks).  To simplify the whole transaction, shipping is FREE for Canada and USA (Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico included).  It will be sent as oversized regular mail thru Canada Post.
