One iRad GS-BGO1125 Gamma Scintillation Detector. This is a very nice low background Gamma Scintillation Detector newly manufactured in the iRad machine shop and lab. The scintillator has a small BGO Crystal coupled to a high quality 1-1/8" Hamamatsu R6095 socketed PMT with 111 MegOhm dynode string (recommended by Theremino for use with their PMT Adapter and MCA software). BGO is a superior and high-value crystal, due in part to it being rugged, non-hygroscopic and very dense. The detector is 7-3/4" long (including BNC), 1-3/8" diameter, and weighs 6.5 ounces. It's really a perfect sized small lightweight detector for all around use, especially where a low background and wide range of energy detection is desirable. The housing is machined from aluminum stock and sealed at the rear with a black Delrin cap with BNC connector. The PMT itself is additionally surrounded with a grounded Mu-Metal Magnetic Shield. The detector has good resolution and would be great for gamma spectrometry coupled with a Multichannel Analyzer (MCA). Pictures show identification of a wide range of energy from Cs137, Co60, and Am241, both individually and collectively. I'm using one of the fantastic Theremino PMT Bias Adapters (available in my other listings) and the freely available Theremino MCA Software for isotope identification. Of course this detector works perfect with Ludlum meters and many others, as shown in the pictures. It operates well between 650v and 1000v. Pictures show the probe operating at 900v on a Ludlum Model 18 with a background of 600 to 800 CPM. The detector has a BNC connector installed, but I can custom make a detector with a different connector, just ask (don't purchase this one if you need a different connector).
