This is a used Jamar Radar Recorder - a stand-alone pole-mounted traffic study device. This unit uses microwave radar to count traffic for up two lanes of bi-directional traffic. All data is then collected and transferred to an iPaq PDA (included) from the unit. This is the first generation unit, data is transferred via serial cable (included). This unit allows for safe traffic studies, no need to put any personnel in the road to lay tubes or other equipment. The previous owner engraved their name on the outside and inside of the case, I placed a white label over it to mask it inside. Unit is in good overall condition with scuffs, marks and scratches from normal use. The unit operates off standard 6v SLA batteries (one or two in parallel). The unit powers on properly and the status light blinks as intended, the front/rear status indicators blink when they see movement. The iPaq PDA currently has the traffic application installed (Radar Collect). When I open the application, it properly synchronizes with the PDA and is able to communicate. You can configure the radar collector with the PDA, the instruction manual explains how to set everything up. This setup was retired in working condition, it looks like it was very lightly used. It comes with the mounting brackets to mount it to a pole/other structure, but no ties are included. I would recommend using aviation clamps (long) or other steel cable to mount the unit securely to a structure. When connecting the iPaq to the Radar Recorder, the included serial cable should be connected to the TOP of the PDA (the bottom port is for the HP specific charge/sync cable). The CF card in the top of the unit is used to connect the unit to the recorder. A standard USB cable is included to connect the PDA to a computer to charge it (it can also be plugged into any standard USB plug to charge). The PDA properly powers on and holds a charge. The manufacturer claims ~8 days of run-time for the unit on batteries alone (when two 6v SLA batteries are installed). These units can also be outfitted with solar panels to charge them automatically in the field, this unit does not have panels installed but any 6-vdc panel wired to the batteries will do the trick, consult the manufacturer for further information. Jamar TRAX Pro v2.5.4 software is included along with the serial number, the software installs on a Windows PC and may be specific to older versions of Windows. All software on the PDA sold as-is, it appears to be running just fine as well. Please verify all software requirements prior to purchasing to ensure they will work for your needs. All batteries included (in the PDA, unit, etc) are sold as-is since they are used batteries. All batteries are user-replaceable as well, so you should have no problem replacing them inexpensively.
