This Model U3889-E 9 pole test switch was used briefly with a PT-9500 power meter as part of commissioning the startup of a 4160 volt chiller to verify internal metering. It was put in storage afterwards. The enclosure is made by Unit manufacturing and the block is made by Meter Devices. BACKGROUND: The block is mounted in a NEMA 1 enclosure. It provides a means for disconnecting and isolating power monitoring equipment for service preventing current transformer or meter damage that may occur when the circuit is opened under load. Each disconnect switch provides isolation from line voltage at each phase and will short out and disconnect the current transformer for each phase. This is excellent for use with CTs that have mA or 5 amp secondaries. This is a popular choice for meter isolation on HVAC, SCADA, primary utility service, and building automation systems. One side of the switch is connected to the circuits being measured; the other side of the switch is connected to the power monitoring equipment. The black plastic cover (209PF) is constructed so that all switches must be in the closed position before the cover can be sealed.
