WHITE TIMBER FRAMING POLL ADZE 4 INCH WIDE BLADE EXC++ Here I have up for auction is a wonderful and scarce timber framing poll adze measuring 4 inches in width, 11 inches in length, 28 inches long with the handle and made by one of if not the finest edge tool company to ever produce such tools in America in L. & I. J. White from Buffalo N.Y. This adze does not show a lot of use and still retains most of the original factory paint, edge does not show much use and only would need a light honing to be put into use. The early football shaped logo reads L.&I. J. White Buffalo N.Y. 1837. I don't believe this stamp was ever stamped boldly into the metal therefore leaving some of the lettering worn and the 1837 worn as well or just not well punched. The adze itself is in too nice of condition for the stamp to have that much wear. Handle is probably the original to the adze and is solid although it does appear to have a very tight check from the adze head up the handle approx. 5 or 6 inches. There is some old tape wrapped a few times around the wood but again, it appears to be solid. This is just an outstanding condition adze to add to your timber framing project or add to your vintage edge tool collection. There is a leather scabbard also included with this adze to protect the edge. The lucky winner of this nice old edge tool made by one of the finest edge tool companies in America in L.&I.J. White to pay ship costs. Will gladly combine shipping costs on multiple purchases. I have another White adze running this week as well and could combine the two and save some money on shipping.
