HERE'S A LETTERPRESS MAGNETIC PLATEN & ROLLER ADJUSTMENT GAUGES 2 IN 1 NEW PRINTING TOOL We have just developed this tool. The set of four gauges will work for setting the platen adjustment of almost any platen press in existance from a table top press, such as a Kelsey or Pilot to huge floor model C&P or Kluge. (The magnets will not stick to a press with a nonferrous bed such as aluminum, but they work well on steel or cast iron as most presses are.) The gauges are made of finely machined aluminum so they will not rust and the magnets are strong rare earth mangnets! Simple to use! Remove tympan paper and all packing Place one gauge at each corner of the type bed Back off on the impression adjustment Close the press Put the press ON IMPRESSION if it has an impression control Then simply turn the adjustment nuts or bolts until the platen is level to the gauge at each corner Secure the adjustment locknuts etc The platen will now be adjusted to .040 OVER TYPE HIGH Now reinstall your tympan paper and adjust the packing Now for the two in one part ...... One of the gauges has a threaded hole in the side Screw the INCLUDED 12 inch handle into the hole and you have a lollypop tool for checking the height of your rollers as in the photos.
