Diesel Engines Background Information: I bought 2 diesel engines from a military surplus website. They were custom built for the U.S. military as skid-mounted hydraulic power units (HPUs) back in 2003 when we were thinking we needed to be in the “nation building” business as the second Gulf war kicked off. Apparently getting bombed by improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and shot at changed our views of “nation building” business. As a result, these diesel engines sat idle and collected dust. These engines are relatively new and fully operational as shown in the YouTube videos below. One of engines has 12 hours and the other has 17 hours when I bought them. I have ran them up a few times for testing but never more than 5 minutes at a time. These HPUs were originally configured with dual hydraulic circuits, which did not meet my requirements. I had removed all the internal hydraulic plumbing with the intention of re-plumbing them as a single hydraulic circuit. I have kept everything else intact. Since the engines had been sitting idle and they are relatively new, they don’t really need anything other than an oil and a radiator coolant change. I also replaced the fuel and oil filters. I had rewired the engines with new wires and added a tool storage container on top of the HPUs. The engines’ skid-mounted housings were sanded down and received a special marine paint for off-shore operations. Unfortunately, my off-shore job did not materialize. As a result, I have not re-plumbed the HPUs with new hydraulic hoses or pumps. As they stand right now, each skid-mounted unit contains a complete engine assembly with a radiator with puller fan and full guarding, 10.5 gallon fuel reservoir, 25 gallon hydraulic reservoir, a 24V lead-acid battery ($250 value), and a hydraulic heat exchanger that is mounted in front of the engine’s radiator. They are ready to be configured to your specific needs. I am selling these units at a deep discount. Comparable units, with similar conditions, in the market with similar usage run in the tens of thousand dollars. In fact, I am selling them at a loss without counting my time and the labor and the selling costs of Ebay & Paypal. They are guaranteed to arrive to you in this condition. There is no other warranty made or claimed. The engine idler/throttle is adjusted by pulling a cable. It is not set to any specific speed and you may have to use a small wrench to adjust it to your desired throttle speed. Furthermore, the gauges, while accurate and true, occasionally intermittent, and as such the wiring should be checked to ensure proper operation. The seller will check oil and coolant levels prior to shipping. The buyer will also remain responsible for ensuring that all fluids are filled to the necessary levels for engine function. The seller will not be held responsible for any engine damage cause by operation without proper fluids. The pictures and videos in this listing are of the actual engines that you are purchasing. Due to size and weight restrictions, the engines cannot be shipped via UPS or FedEx. Typically, we use UPS or YRC Freight as our LTL Shippers. If you would like to use a different LTL shipper, you will need to make arrangements to use them. These engines will be picked up from a residential area.
