You are bidding on 27 Pieces of 5/8" Diameter 4140 Grade Cold Rolled Annealed Steel as seen in the pictures.... 26 pieces are around 2 1/2" to 2 3/4" long and 1 piece is around 3 1/2" long. They all have a sharpened end on one side. These are remnant pieces from a screw machine operation. This is a Great Price for over 5 feet of this high quality MADE IN THE USA steel!! 4140 Alloy Steel Round, is an cold drawn annealed steel of relatively high hardenability. 4140 round bar is an alloy steel that contains measurable amounts of carbon, molybdenum, silicon, phosphorus, sulfur, chromium and manganese. These elements are added in order to achieve specific properties.The carbon content helps to make the steel capable of being heat treated. The chromium, manganese and molybdenum add toughness and strength. Its chromium content provides good hardness penetration, and the molybdenum imparts uniformity of hardness and high strength. 4140 Alloy Steel Round responds well to heat-treatment and is relatively easy to machine in the annealed condition. 4140 Alloy Steel Round has good strength and wear resistance, excellent toughness, coupled with good ductility, and the ability to resist stress at elevated temperatures.
