Dynascan B&K Precision FM Multiplex Stereo Signal Generator. Model 2007 with Original Box. This is a quality item from the Dynascan Corporation of Chicago, Illinois. This generator is specifically designed for the alignment of FM receivers, radios, and stereos. As such, it provides many interesting and unusual functions that are simply not available on conventional signal generators, even those that are much more expensive. For example, the Pre-Emphasis can be set to zero (flat), 50 microseconds (European standard), or 75 microseconds (US/North American standard) via a simple front-panel switch. No changing out of capacitors or resistors is required. You can use this setting to compare the tonal characteristics of vintage European radios, such as the Grundig Satellit series, which were originally designed with the European 50-microsecond standard in mind. This Stereo Signal Generator provides a Composite output, along with selectable L, R, L+R, L-R, or Line Level outputs. Rear Banana jacks provide a balanced 300-ohm RF output port, along with balanced audio inputs for L and R channels. An RF frequency adjustment trimmer enables adjustment of the output frequency from approximately 88 MHz to 104 MHz. Two additional adjustments are provided for 19-KHz pilot tone level and phase. This device could also be used as a home-based FM broadcasting station or FM transmitter. The L and R audio inputs could be fed, for example, from an iPod, computer sound card, or other audio source. When used with a twinlead folded dipole antenna, this generator seems to provide more solid household coverage than the popular CCrane transmitter. The buyer is responsible for complying with any governmental regulations that may apply for this type of use. The pictured banana plug probes are included. No manual or other accessories are included. The generator appears to have been very lightly used, if at all.
