Gamma Spectrometric Detector AtomSpectra model 4 Complete gamma spectrometer. Just connect to your computer USB port or an Apple Ipad/Iphone and you are ready to go!  Device is based on Scionix  Scintillation detector assembly with NaI(Tl) crystal 1.5" diameter * 2.2” long (38 mm diameter x 57mm long) with  PMT for gamma-spectrometry.  Scintillation detector assembly also includes low-noise regulated adjustable power supply, low-noise preamplifier and ADC with USB interface. The device additionally has an extra audio jack for direct output of an pulse signal to  IPhone, iPad or Android device. The Device includes built-in rechargeable battery, which can power the spectrometer for at least 8 hours. You just need to connect it to the 5 Volt adapter or USB port via standard USB cord for recharging. Internal battery is used only when USB power is not available. For your comfort of use we  installed USB and audio connectors on the back and on the side of the detector. It is useful for the Marinelli geometry use when the detector is placed vertically. Please note that the simultaneous use of two USB ports isn't allowed. Dimensions: height – 265mm, diameter – 50 mm, weight - 450 grams.  Construction overview.  1.5" *2.2” NaI(Tl) detector is effective for gamma-spectrometry in 20 Kev – 3 Mev energy range. Typical energy resolution is about 7,6  % for 662 Kev peak of Cs137 source. Light output of NaI(Tl) crystals depends on temperature, so after temperature change calibration is recommended. It is not recommended to change temperature of the detector faster than 1°C\minute. Voltage divider for photomultiplier is made as separate PCB unit. Anode of photomultiplier is separated from resistor divider for noise reduction. Photomultiplier is magnetically shielded. Photomultiplier power supply circuit is PWM type, output voltage is stabilized. Optimum voltage is adjusted, no user-adjustable parts inside. All power supply circuitry is hermetically sealed with silicone compound and shielded for emission reduction. Output high voltage is additionally filtered. Power consumption from USB port depends on actual voltage and less than 100 mA at maximum voltage.  Low-noise preamplifier performs signal conditioning before ADC. Total noise equivalent of photomultiplier and preamplifier is less than 3 keV. ADC is 16 bit and 48000 Hz sampling rate with plug and play compatibility (Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and others), no additional software drivers needed. Operating system will treat it as external USB audio device (HID class). Sensitivity and load. 1.5" *2.2” NaI(Tl) scintillation detector have very high sensitivity: around 120 000 pulses per minute to microsievert per hour. It is normal that in typical gamma radiation background (0.1 uSv/h) you will see about 150 counts per second, or ~9000 counts per minute. ADC sampling rate is limited to 48000 Hz, so more than 1500 counts per second load is not recommended. Please note that all spectra presented on item pictures includes background radiation. Software and technical tips.  Freeware PRA program is recommended for work with the detector assembly with PC and GeigerBot  is recommended for iPhone or iPad. PRA can be downloaded from author's web page at http://www.physics.usyd.edu.au/~marek/pra/index.html . AtomSpectra and BqMoni also works nice. App for Android can be downloaded here, but please note that not all Android devices can process gamma spectrum. Switching OFF of absolutely all sound effects for USB sound input device is strictly required. Some Windows (especially Windows 7) drivers sets ADC gain to maximum possible at first start. It strongly reduces actual dynamic range of the detector. If it happened you need to set input signal gain to 1-5% instead of 100%, high voltage adjustment is not required. Initial setup and calibration  you can see  (in Russian, with English subtitles) here. Optimum settings for your equipment depends on computer and operating system and may be different.
