Eberline Smart Portable nuclear ratemeter & scaler model ESP-1.  Includes militarized radiac detector DT-53D which will detect gamma radiation and, when the front metal window is in the open position, beta rays as well (some sources indicate the open window will detect alpha too, but I can't confirm this as I currently do not have an alpha only source).  The voltage is currently set at 700 V to match the probe requirement.  This is the ideal unit to power all sorts of geiger tubes, both Ludlum and HP pancake tubes, to Russian and CDV-700 standard hot dog style geiger tubes.  Voltage is adjustable internally to allow scintillator operation as well, such as sodium iodide based scintillators made by a variety of firms.  The scaler function is ideal for detecting very low levels of radiation, usually not easily measured by standard counting.  It accumulates counts over time, ideal for setting up a radon detection system.  Scaling can bring detection of radioactivity to a new level, very powerful, and beyond normal geiger counters and ratemeters. There are other features too, such as setting counts per minute, counts per second, as well a mR/hr.  There is also a "calibration mode".  I highly recommend the manual, easily available on-line (if you can't find it, ask me after purchase for the link).       A brief test was made as in the video below.  No other tests were performed.  You get what's pictured:  ESP-1 unit, DT-53D/PDR-27 probe, 6 foot probe/ unit cable, and probe adapter so the cable can couple to it.  The DT-53D probe was modified with a terminating female F type connector.  An included adapter then converts from F to BNC female so that the included male to male BNC cable can connect the probe to the ESP-1 unit or any other meter that provides correct probe voltage.  The probe requires 700 volts.    Shipping info: 12x12x10 inches box, 7 lbs, no extra fees.
