This Sale is for one New old Stock American Sun Inc USA Precision Machine Vise 2-3/4" Jaws Model 100-1 Item No. M10D.2 Jaw Width: 2-3/4" Jaw Opening: 4-3/16" Jaw Depth: 1-1/16" Length of Vise body 8-1/4" Bed Height: 1-1/2" Overall Height: 2-9/16" This Sale is for one New old Stock American Sun Inc USA ( a small American manufacturer of the highest quality tools, they were a family business that closed because they could not compete with cheap Asian imports) 2-3/4" Precision Machine Vise . American Sun vises are reknowed for being of the highest quality available anywhere. The vise is made of high quality steel hardened to 58-60 RC and precision ground on all sides for accuracy. The vise is ground Square and parallel on all sides within 0.0001" per inch. The vise is designed to sustain heavy clamping pressure without jaw distortion. The jaws are also drilled and tapped for optional soft jaws ( these jaws are easy to make and were not provided by the manufacturer) or stops if needed. The jaws feature a positive "cam-lock" type down hold that ELIMINATES uplift of the workpiece. The included handle is completely machined from steel bar stock with a ball end of polished steel. It is not a rough casting like commonly found with Kurts and other vises. We had many of these in stock and are down to the last few. Many of our customers that purchased one of these vises have come back for one for each of their machines. These vises make all others look crude. The vise would be ideal for a Deckel or Aciera Mill as well as other precision machines. The handle may have a few scuffs and dings from storage , please see pics. The vise will come covered in packing grease and bubble in its original box .The Vise in the photos still has some of the protective grease coating on it as can be seen in the photos. You will receive a new one still completely covered in heavy packing grease. The only vise that compares is the Swiss made Fribosa. A used Fribosa in good shape sells for what we are asking for the New American Sun Vise. These vises have not been made for more than a decade. The last retail price was approximately $1000.
