Once exposed to ionizing radiation, the ionization chamber charges, causing a current in the cylindrical electrodes made of tissue-equivalent plastic. The current reduces the potential of the chamber and capacitor, causing the electroscope filament to deflect. The deflection is measured with a microscope calibrated in radars on a scale with 25 divisions, each division priced at 20 rad. The dosimeter ID-1 allows the measurement of absorbed doses of gamma-neutron radiation in the range of 20 to 500 rad. To ensure linearity, the ionization chamber's charging potential ranges between 180-250 V. The dosimeter's contact group is charged with a charging device and protects it from discharge. The personal dosimeter, also known as the ID-1 in the Soviet Army, is a radiation detection device. Its design is similar to a pen and includes an ionization chamber, electroscope, condenser, and contact group in an aluminum casing.
