  PRECISION ELECTRONIC CHRONOMETER CIRCA 1950-60 Made for the Navy by the Sperry-Gyroscope Co. sometime in the later 1950's or early 60's. Fewer than 75 were produced for the Navy. This precision timing chronometer and clock is similar in many ways to the Hewlett Packard 115BR clock except that this is a complete chronometer containing it's own frequency standard. It utilizes a precision 1800 Hz fork unit manufactured by Westrex (Western Electric) marked 1800 cps Resonator Tuning Fork which they also used in a similar chronometer/clock sold under their name as the Model TS-3A. It utilizes 5 vacuum tubes, (3) 12AT7's and (2) 5814 (really a 12AU7). The unit is not self starting - just like the HP113BR and the HP115BR and requires turning a small knob to start the clock motor. The unit has mechanical adjustments to change the phase of the 1PPS output (plus or minus) which includes an unusual Time Phase Clutch. The unit is completely RF shielded - including the readout window- and there is an output terminal strip on the inside back with output terminals marked " Precision 1800cps, Precision 600cps, Precision 800cps, Time Break Contacts, Precision 400cps, Precision 60cps, and 1 Second Contact". It requires 115VAC as a power source. The readout displays hours, minutes, seconds and has a dial on the right side of the readout which spins once a second. The Chronometer is running and all of it's functions appear to work properly. It measures 19" wide, 10" high and is 10 1/2" deep. The unit is quite heavy - it's made like a battleship - and weighs approximately 50 pounds. Please view the photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
