Solar Powered Handheld Geiger Counter.   This compact low level radiation detector offers several features that make it useful for field and laboratory use.  It's wide LCD screen displays count, counts per minute, mR/hr, elapsed time and the capacitor charge states.  Events are indicated both visually and through a mutable chirp.  Sensitive to Alph, Beta, Gamma and X-Ray radiation through it's Mica end-window Geiger-Mueller tube.  This Geiger counter is solar powered and operates indoors with a charged capacitor of two AA Batteries. Specifications: Detector:  Halogen-quenched Ne, stainless steel Geiger Mueller tube Modes:  Continuous, cpm, mR/hr;adjustable count interval Display:  LCD w/ count, mode, elapsed time, charge status End Window:  mica, 1.2-2.0 mg/cm2 areal density Sensitivity:  18 cps/mR/hr (co60); Gamma>0.01 MeV; Beta > 0.2 MeV; Alpha > 4 MeV Range:  0-8 mR/hr Operating Voltage:  500 Dead Time:  90 us Power Sources:  direct solar, solar charged capacitor, or 2 AA cells All Geiger counters sold by VWR Education Companies are for educational purposes only. They will measure different types of radiation including alpha, beta, gamma and x rays; but they should not be used for any health, safety or medical purposes, or to determine a human beings safety in an area that is suspected of radiation exposure. Our Geiger counters will detect different types of radiation but unless you know how to properly calibrate the and interpret data, these Geiger counters should not be used to determine safe or unsafe levels of radiation exposure. Good Luck!
