Rotation increments can be entered on the controller keypad in either “Divisions” mode (0 to 999 divisions) or in “Degrees” mode (to 3 decimal places of a degree). Continuous rotation is also possible. Direction of rotation and speed are controllable. Once an amount is entered, you can index forward each time you hit the “Next” key or backward to previous settings using the “Previous” key. A “Jog” function allows non-programmed rotation in either direction in slow or fast speeds as long as the appropriate key is held down. Electronic backlash compensation is also available when changing directions, virtually eliminating backlash. Basic resolution is 28,800 steps per table revolution or ±0.006° per step. This allows for accurate machining of items like gears with odd numbers of teeth. Computations are made internally to many decimal places as on an electronic calculator to avoid cumulative errors. The rotary table package includes the 4? diameter table, stepper motor mount, stepper motor, connecting cables, power supply and programmable control box as well as a detailed set of instructions for its use. The unit is completely self-contained and requires no other electronics or drivers. Also included is a threaded adapter that can be used to attache any Sherline 3- or 4-jaw chuck to the surface of the table and a pair of hold-down clamps for mounting the rotary table to a Sherline mill. An optional #3701 90° fixture is available to mount the table vertically, and another fixture #3702 is an adjustable tailstock for supporting long stock on center with the table when it is mounted vertically.
