Up for bid is a 1952 vintage U.S. Army Signal Corps tube tester Model I-177-B, manufactured for the Army Signal Corps by Hickok. The Hickok I-177 was the first tube tester Hickok built specifically for the military.  This unit has the original manual and data chart still in the lid, as well as the 12" clip lead that is so often lost. Original power cord with no signs of cracking.  The exterior of the case has original finish, with rust wear and tear consistent with being over 60 years old, but no major dents or dings. It's condition is really amazing for the age. As you can see in the photos, the main panel is practically mint, with no fading or cracking of the meter face or glass. Both the fuse and short lamp are intact and functional.  Both rectifier tubes function, and the unit powers on with no fuss. All knobs are responsive and effect change on the meter when energized. The internals of this tester are as clean as could possibly be hoped for an instrument of this age. If you didn't know better you'd think it was new judging by the internals. I have tested several tubes on this meter, I don't have a second meter to cross check but all of these tubes are in use in other equipment and assumed good. Please see images for examples of tubes being tested such as a type 80 rectifier and a type 27 triode.  I cannot guarantee nor do I believe that this unit is within calibration, but as clean and functional as it is it should be a simple matter to calibrate it if you desired.  This is a heck of a meter, a Hickock built to military specs, and so indestructible. This meter can test many of the larger power tubes such as the 300B, an optional tube socket adapter kit was developed to test more modern tubes, and the manual included with the unit provides tube test settings for such tubes.  Don't miss this one, they don't show up in this condition very often. I was going to keep it for myself, but I decided someone else would enjoy it more.  Happy bidding :)
