Fred Shane (1906-1992) was an artist from Missouri, who was also a WWII Artist/Correspondent for the US Army Medical Corp in 1944. This plate of an original painting done at Carlisle Barracks, PA., shows soldiers preparing a Jeep to be floated across a river using canvas with many onlookers. The engraving is signed F. Shane 44 in the lower right (left when printed) corner. The copper plate measures 12 3/4" high and 17" wide with no bends or creases. There is some oxidation as you can see in the pictures.
