PVC can be connected to other materials such as steel, copper, or cast iron using transition fittings. The fitting connects and branches three pipes and has two smaller inlets perpendicular to the main branches. This fitting's internal construction moves the flow at a gradual angle to prevent clogging. It has female hub connections for sliding over the ends of unthreaded male pipes. The hub end connects to pipes with a smooth bore for enhanced flow.
