Always keep the knobs tight to ensure straightedge stays parallel 2. Avoid moving the straightedge when the knobs are secured tightly 3. Do not use the board as a cutting surface in order to keep board surface smooth and even 4. Store the board in a protective case when transporting Troubleshooting: 1. If there are difficulties in moving the parallel straightedge up and down, check to make sure of the following: a. The wires are passing through the pulleys properly b. Pulleys are spinning freely c. The metal spring is positioned in the center of the board. This will prevent it from getting too close to the pulleys when the straightedge is moved up or down. Repositioning the straightedge: 1. Loosen the top knob/screw counter-clockwise 2. Position the straightedge blade parallel to either the top or bottom the edge of the board 3. Once completely parallel, tighten the top knob/screw clockwise 4. Scroll the straightedge up or down to the desired position Replacing the Wire: Loosen the screws on the side clamps to release the wire, leaving the screws and washers in place, but loose; remove wire from around the four pulleys. Hold spring end of new wire near center of board, above the fixed wire channel. Wrap wire around pulleys and under washer clamp on the left side in the order shown on the diagram. Thread eyelet through fixed wire channel in the center of the board (as shown in step 5). Continue across the diagonal and wrap wire around the pulleys and washer on the right side until it meets with the spring end ABOVE the fixed wire channel in the center. Fasten eyelet to the end of the spring With spring in center of board, and clamps holding the straightedge halfway up the sides, re-tighten the clamp screws to securely hold the wire under the washers on both sides.
