Balanced frame and thimble design insure easy handling and better readability 2-Hardened anvils furnished-round anvil approximately 0.120-Inch (3mm) in diameter and flat anvil approximately 0.125-Inch (3mm) and 0.060-Inch (1.5mm) thick Interchangeable anvils are rigidly held in vice type frame and quickly interchanged by single screw lock adjustment Satin chrome finish-no glare-resists rust Rigid one-piece frame of drop forged steel with micro-lapped measuring faces Uses interchangeable anvils (flat and rod included) to support varied measurement needs Vernier scale in inch units for taking precise outside diameter (OD) measurements Ratchet-stop mechanism helps provide uniform pressure for precise, repeatable measurements Satin chrome finish on thimble and sleeve helps resist rust and reduce glare Micro-lapped carbide spindle helps provide accuracy and wear resistanceThe Starrett 220XRL series Mul-T-Anvil micrometre uses interchangeable anvils to support varied measurement needs, and includes a flat and rod anvil. It has a vernier scale in inch units for taking precise outside diameter (OD) measurements, and a ratchet-stop mechanism for uniform pressure during adjustment. The vernier scale on the thimble and sleeve is graduated to 0.001”. The micrometre is made of high-grade tool steel with a satin chrome rust- and glare-resistant finish. The spindle is micro-lapped for accuracy and carbide-tipped for wear resistance. A knurled ring-type lock nut helps provide secure locking of the measurement position.Micrometres are precision measuring instruments that use a calibrated screw to measure small distances. These measurements are translated into large rotations of the screw that are then able to be read from a scale or a dial. Micrometres are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering. There are three types of micrometre: outside, inside, and depth. Outside micrometres may also be called micrometre callipers, and are used to measure the length, width, or outside diameter of an object. Inside micrometres are typically used to measure interior diameter, as in a hole. Depth micrometres measure the height, or depth, of any shape that has a step, groove, or position.Mic L.S. Starrett Company manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology and testing equipment, and saw blade products. The company was founded in 1880 and is headquartered in Athol, MA.
