You are considering a Tennsmith 52" Sheet Metal Shear.  This machine is used, but is in good overall condition. This was originally a foot powered "stomp" shear, but the previous owner converted it to a pneumatic air cylinder powered one. It could be converted back by removing the pneumatics and welding a foot pedal back in place. We tested the shear here using a small 30 gallon shop compressor and the shear seems to work fine. It sheared the small test pieces we did fine, but it would take a compressor with greater volume than ours to keep up at a production pace. The previous owner wrote "20 GA Galv. Maximum" on the front. The original rating stamped on the nameplate is 16 GA Soft Steel. We tested the shear with a 16" wide piece of 16 GA and it sheared it fine. We do not have a full length piece to test the shear with and we are not sure why the previous owner wrote what he did. You are more than welcome to come test run the shear here at our warehouse. The shear blades are in good condition. Other than the power modification, the only repair work done by the previous owner can be seen in the 9th picture. The bar that runs across the back of the shear had broken loose. The previous owner fabricated a bracket and reattached the bar, which seems to work fine. Mfg.
