Seller's Description: Offered is a Thermolyne 42000 Gravity Convection Incubator, Model I42045, Serial Number 420901134754. The incubator can be heated from a few degrees above ambient to 70°C (158°F). The gravity convection type of incubator means no mechanical circulation of air inside the unit (no fans), which means it takes a little longer to respond to setpoint changes but also is more robust for the life of the incubator (it's simpler). In scientific fields, this incubator would best be used to store closed container samples. I use incubators like these in my hobbies for large batch yogurt making and dough making, where the incubator temperature can be set for optimal fermentation or rises. The incubator is in good condition for its age. The exterior is in average condition with paint blemishes, dullnes, and scuffs, but no rusting; the door handle is a little out of shape towards the top (not bad). The inside has a single shelf that can be repositioned and mirror polished steel with no rust. I've cleaned the interior with isopropyl alcohol. These units usually have an additional glass door inside the main door used to prevent temperature drop off when opening the unit frequently. The glass door is not present but the unit holds very tight temperatures once it's stabilized, as the main door seals and insulates well (my tests indicated 0.1°C fluctuation at a setpoint of 37.0°C). Analog up/down buttons are used to set target temperature. The actual temperature is displayed digitally to 0.1°C. The front control buttons allow for setpoint adjustment, which you should double-check after the actual temperature has stabilized, since I noticed the setpoint itself may have drifted 0.1 or 0.2 units from where I thought I set it during my initial tests Who are you buying from?
