-The Original Hive Tool -The 90 Degree Hive Tool -The Bee Herding Tool -The Original Hive Tool is the main tool you want to use when working your bee hive. The Original Hive Tool is made of hand-forged steel and brass. Sturdy for easily removing combs and prying apart top bars when working with your hive. The sharpened end allows you to easily scrape off comb attachments for easy harvesting of combs. The detailed handle end is functional as well for prying top bars loose from propolis seals the bees have created. -The 90 Degree Hive Tool is a supplemental tool which has a sharp edge and angel to cut through comb attachments at the bottom of the hive. The 90 Degree Tool is also used for lifting out combs from the hive. Honeycombs can weigh up to 7-9 pounds and this tool helps you easily lift the comb without squishing bees in the process. -The Bee Herding Tool is used instead of the traditional bee brush to move bees off of the honey comb that you want to harvest. A traditional bee brush aggravates the bees and gets them defensive. Instead of brushing the bees you can "herd" them off of the comb back into the hive with the Bee Herding Tool. We have found this is much less agitating to the bees and it prevents the bees from flying all over in the air as they do when you use a brush. With the herding tool, you gently herd them off the comb, moving slowly, and push them back into the hive. Less stress for everyone! Shop owner Corwin Bell designed all 3 hive tools to be functional and a pieces of art. For the original Hive Tool he designed the detailed handle to resemble a bee wing and yet it is functional using it to pry apart top bars. The other end of the hive tool is sharp enough to easily cut through combs and also can be used to help lift heavy honeycombs out of the hive. The Original Top Bar Hive tool is made of forged steel and brass and is 16" in length. The 90 Degree Hive Tool is made of forged steel and 17" in length. The Bee Herding Tool is made of fine wood and 15" in length.
