The vintage printing block is in Very Good- condition, with mild signs of wear from age and use, including several surface discolorations and a few small areas of white spotting. The plate is flat and should still print well. It measures 2 1/4" x 8 1/4" inches, and the back is blank. This auction showcases a vintage printing block from the 1940s that was used in letterpress printing. The block features an early editorial cartoon with an anti-war message. The image consists of several cartoon cells that show the progression of an army inductee, from being bored and waiting at the recruitment desk to wearing a full uniform and carrying a rifle, then depicted on crutches, and finally, in a grave marked by a cross reading "JOE DOE". The plate is made from zinc metal faceplate attached to hardwood blocks. Take a look at the other letterpress blocks available for combined shipping deals.
