For Your Consideration: Manufactured by Volpe's Sale and Tool Mfg. Co. {Floral Park, N.Y.} this 'Master Tubular Riveter': "Designed to remove and replace tubular rivets in all Chevrolet grilles and hoods from 1942 to current model." "Can also be used on other models" Rivet gun is a serious piece of equipment ... far far sturdier & more powerful than the average garden variety 'pop' rivet gun ... its constructed of 3 1" thick molded bars of cast iron, joined at the pivot points by 1/4" rivets. Its a true professional mechanic's tool, designed to last a lifetime, just as so many other vintage tools were similarly designed. The above is nothing I discovered through any research. I discovered it simply by holding the tool in my hand & feeling its heft. I would like to know more & pass it on but ... as much as I tried, I could not discover any information on the company whose name is on the set's label. Couldn't find out anything about either the "Master Tubular Riveter" nor the Volpe Sales and Tool Mfg. Co. Which leaves the manufacturing date up in the air. But the look of the label, the reference to '1942' and the retro-industrial look & feel of the gun & case would probably date it back to the late '40's - early '50's, which, again, I'm just surmising from what is known. The detailed instructions clearly illustrate the process of removing existing rivets, while also, giving a step-by-step breakdown on how to install a new rivet. I'm not certain what accessories initially came packed in the metal case which houses the MTR {Master Tubular Riverter}. Nor if all are present and accounted for. In its current state, 22 bits / nibs / heads are included in the set with the gun, which would render it ready & able to take on the finer point of restoration of that classic Chevy you might have. This was a terrific 'barn' find for me. Truly hope someone out there {You?} Will find a need for it ... and it helps you take on the things you need to by doing what it does best. ...
