Make a King-Size Tool Post for Hefty Turning Bits This Original 1969 how-to article / plan shown below was removed from a vintage magazine. Article Excerpt:  "Hefty, high-speed steel or carbide bits are more rigid and in other ways superior to the toolholder-bit combination widely used on small lathes - but a conventional toolpost has too narrow a slot to accommodate them.  Even if the slot were wide enough, some sort of block or shim system would have to be improvised to position cutting edges at the proper heights.  Not so with the toolpost shown, however, since it was specifically designed to accommodate bits up to 1/2-in wide.  It has an easily set height-adjustment feature consisting of steel ring supported by a quartet of bolts.  It also provides firm support for boring bars or large bits ground as boring tools.  All parts can be made of ordinary or tool steel..."  Pages are in good condition and have a faint musty odor.  Check out our great selection of vintage workshop plans, each additional purchase ships for FREE!
