Up for your consideration, we are offering this nice vintage Wincharger wind generator. Probably dating from the 1940's, this was one of their higher priced models, and features a 4 to 1 gearbox ratio to increase output.  This model has an 11' Douglas fir single blade rotor.  I believe this unit was rated at 1200 watts, 32 volts DC.  This design uses a 48" Albers air brake governor. Unit is mostly complete, and was one of my personal restoration projects. The main castings and generator housing was bead blasted, primed, and painted in the approximate original colors. The generator unit was professionally refurbished by an electric motor shop. The commutator was turned, windings dipped and baked, new leads installed, new USA made bearings, new condenser, all electrically tested and works fine. Also new original spec. brushes.  As this unit had a fiber large gear in the gearbox, I decided to replace it with a steel gear, as the fiber gears become very unreliable with age. Gear was custom cut by a gear shop out of 4140 alloy steel, and should last a lifetime. New USA made Fafnir bearings installed on main shaft. The remainder of the machine is unrestored. Air brake governor is in pretty good shape, a little light rust where the paint is missing. I do have the springs for this, they have been bead blasted and painted. The flat actuating bars are missing, but easily made. One of the flaps is a little dented, as seen in photos. 11' wood blade is in very good condition, has a few separated grain cracks, which is common in vertical grain wood, can be glued. Not really weathered, it was stored inside for a lot of years. Copper leading edge metal a little dented. Vane sheets are in very good shape, with original lettering mostly intact. Someone had painted it yellow at one time. I carefully stripped the outer layer, and found the original underneath. Some minor traces of yellow remain. A couple shallow bullet creases.  I don't think this is the original vane, where I got it there were parts from several machines, but it is the correct one for this other than the 750 watt markings. The flat bar cross brace is missing, but easily made. I have a piece of new galvanized conduit which is the same specs as the original vane stem, which was missing. The front bearing retainer sheet steel plate is missing, but I have the dimensions to make a replacement. Also included is a turntable and slip ring assembly, which can be adapted to your tower stub. While this is not an original part it is way more heavy duty than what was originally used. I do have the lower turntable bearing assembly, I forgot to include it in photo, but it is exactly like the top bearing. Due to size and weight, I can not ship, but offer local pickup, it is near Reno Nevada. Can hold it for a while if full payment is made at time of purchase. I also am offering a very nice 1800 watt Jacobs machine, see my other listing.
